Chiropractic care is a natural healing method many people choose when looking for alternative treatment of acute and chronic conditions. A chiropractor, known as a chiropractic physician, or DC, is a licensed healthcare professional who performs adjustments (manipulations) to the spine and other parts of the body. The goal of these adjustments is to correct alignment problems in order to ease pain and support the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Chiropractic care can help support optimal health and wellness.

 Comprehensive Evaluation

Before a chiropractor treats a new patient, he or she must first complete a thorough examination. The examination includes a physical exam, a case history, X-rays, and possibly lab work. There will be a chiropractic structural examination, with specific attention given to the spine.

Triggers the Body to Heal Itself

Chiropractors are aware that different factors affect health, such as nutrition, exercise, posture, incorrect movement, and heredity. A DC can find the source of the problem or discomfort and restore the body to its original state of activity and health. Chiropractic also aims to maintain health naturally and aid the body’s resistance to disease, rather than merely treating the symptoms of illness.

 Involves No Surgery or Drugs

Chiropractors use various techniques such as adjustments and electrical muscular stimulation to locate, analyze, and gently correct spinal misalignments known as subluxations. These techniques are an alternative to the use of pharmaceutical drugs and invasive surgery typically suggested or prescribed by traditional medical physicians. Chiropractic care stimulates the body’s communication system to work more efficiently to initiate and coordinate the various functions of the body’s cells, organs, and systems.
